This
year we are working closely with the Rollercoastival Festival
organisers to stage The Scarborough Literature Festival Student
Conference in the run up to the festival. This will give 60
young people, aged 16-18, the opportunity to explore their
reading habits, share experiences and work with authors Rebbeca
Ray, Matthew Whyman and Tim Bowler. The conference will give
students a chance to share their enthusiasm for books, explore
how stories are constructed and find out more about why the
authors have chosen to express themselves through particular
genres and styles.
We
are also working with the Rollercoastival team to bring local
poet John Clarke and illustrator Alex T. Smith to the library,
working with children aged 10 to explore their creativity
and produce a literary review which will be launched at the
festival.
